VICTORY FOR IMSU STUDENTS AS CAMP DAVID HOSTEL OWNER MAKES U-TURN

On Sunday April 11, a fracas that had existed for some weeks between student occupants of Camp David hostel and the hostel owner was finally buried.

Some weeks ago, news had emerged that the owner of Camp David hostel – a hostel in Okwu-Uratta Students Alliance, IMSU back gate – had sold off the hostel to another who intended converting the structure into an hotel.

On the premise of that, he directed all IMSU students vacate premises – just like that!

What followed was processes of dialogue with the owner of the property to seek arrest the situation; meeting with the students to assure them that they weren’t done for; and involving the appropriate authorities into the matter.

Several attempts at ejecting the students forcefully were resisted and Sunday was the last face-off on the matter.

The hostel owner on Sunday gave the students 6-months free use of the hostel and also promised to refund those who had already paid.

EZEGE on that fateful Sunday that helped prevent an anomaly that could have led to chaos from happening.
