IMSU UTME & Direct Entry Admission Requirement for the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering

On this article we are going to talk about the Philosophy, Aim and Objectives of the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme and the admission requirements for “Post UTME/Direct Entry & Inter University Transfer Mode of Imo State University, Owerri.

Introduction

Every one that is not informed is intellectually deformed. Acquisition of knowledge is the primary method of being informed. Availability of information makes for discipline and orderliness in every endeavour much more in a skill based profession. Electrical & Electronic Engineering being among such professions requires instilling in students the relevant discipline that will make for obedience and good understanding of the goals and objectives of the profession and in return, make them fit properly into the learning and skill acquisition processes therein.

The University community is a vibrant one with multiple inputs from different services. Some of these inputs come from various backgrounds and have the tendency to make one who had not developed the spirit of self control to lose focus and derail from the set objectives. The consequence of this derailment may be devastating -rustication, withdrawal from the programme etc.

We recognize that a good number of these entrants are relatively young and are being exposed for the first time in life to work out their destinies. The Electrical & Electronic Engineering students’ handbook is made to complement the University and Faculty of Engineering students’ handbooks. These handbooks are intended to direct every student on the respective regulations which he/she must obey to achieve all round success in any programme of the University. It is therefore, a must to have manual for every student of the department and a vital reference book on students’ ethics in the Department, Faculty and University in general.

Philosophy

To achieve the national goals and objectives of industrialization, and self reliance, the programme is geared towards the development of a thorough practice in training, which includes early broad based training in general engineering, practical application to engineering processes, adequate training in human and organisational behaviour. The general philosophy of the programme is to produce graduates with high academic standard and adequate practical background for self employment as well as being of immediate value to the industry and the community in general.
