Abia State University (ABSU) First Semester Examinations Postponed to 11 May 2026 With Attendance Rule

Abia State University (ABSU) has postponed the first semester examinations for the 2026/2026 academic session by two weeks.

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, approved the shift. The examinations, earlier fixed for Monday, 27 April 2026, will now begin on Monday, 11 May 2026.

ABSU new examination date

The new start date for the first semester examinations is Monday, 11 May 2026.

The earlier date was Monday, 27 April 2026; that timetable is no longer in place. Students, Deans, Provosts, Directors, and Heads of Departments are expected to take note.

Who can write the ABSU first semester examinations

The notice states that only bona fide students of the university will be allowed to write the examinations.

Fee payment and course registration

Students must have paid their fees and registered their courses, as required, before they can sit the papers.

That condition remains in place; it is direct and clear.

Lecture attendance rule

The Senate policy on attendance will also be enforced.

Students must have at least 75% attendance at lectures before they can write the examinations. The Attendance rule, this time, will be strictly applied.

What students and officers should note

Provosts, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and students are expected to note the new date and act in line with it.

For students, the message is simple enough: the examinations now start on 11 May 2026, and only those who meet the stated conditions will be allowed into the exam hall.
