MOUAU announces Christmas and New year public holidays

The Management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike has officially informed the university community of the upcoming public holidays as declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

According to a memorandum from the Office of the Registrar, with reference number MOU/AU/R/PASM/P/003/VOL.1 and dated 23rd December 2025, the following days have been declared public holidays:

· Thursday, 25th December 2025 (Christmas Day)

· Friday, 26th December 2025 (Boxing Day)

· Thursday, 1st January 2026 (New Year’s Day)

Consequently, all university offices will remain closed on these days. All staff members are advised to ensure that all electrical appliances and gadgets in their offices are switched off before departure.

The directive, however, notes that staff on essential services are required to be on duty. This includes personnel from the Security Unit, the University Health Services, University Farms, and those in charge of power and electricity supply.

The Security Unit has been specifically tasked with maintaining proper surveillance on campus and other designated locations throughout the holiday period.

The university management has announced the resumption dates as follows:

· Work resumes on Monday, 29th December 2025, after the Christmas holidays.

· Work resumes on Friday, 2nd January 2026, after the New Year holiday.

The memorandum was signed by Dr. Chinwe A. Ifenkwe, Deputy Registrar, Personnel (ASM/Establishment), on behalf of the Registrar.
